The S-STEM Program
Recognizing that financial aid alone cannot increase retention and graduation in STEM, the National Science Foundation (NSF) founded the S-STEM Program, a fund that provides awards to institutions of higher education (IHEs) to fund scholarships and to adapt, implement and study evidence-based curricular and co-curricular activities that have been shown to be effective in supporting recruitment, retention, transfer (if appropriate), student success, academic/career pathways and graduation in STEM. While most of the students who receive this award are studying an area of the STEM field, proposals can be made for funds to be given to students who meet the same qualifica- ions, but are studying a high-demand industry. The amounts distributed depend on the institution. Amount: Varies Number of Scholarships Given: About 75-90 Application Dates: Varies How to Learn More: beta.nsf.gov/funding/opportunities/ nsf-scholarships-science-technology-engineering
